Mount Purro Nature Reserve Encourages You to 'Disconnect to Connect'

Located in Purok 5, Barangay Calawis in Antipolo City, Mount Purro Nature Reserve is a 36-hectare forest sanctuary run by the family of Toto Malvar, the grandson of General Miguel Malvar. He bought this land in 1996 and opened in 1999. Only 6 to 8-hectares was developed and the remaining land was reserved for sanctuary and reforestation. They now currently hires around 100 people to run the place which are mostly from nearby place, some are former illegal loggers and doing kaingin.

If you're commuting along Aurora Boulevard or Marcos Highway, you can take a Jeep going to Cogeo from Cogeo, take another Jeep that says Paenaan. Tell the driver you would be going down at Kanto Veterans From Kanto Veterans, ride 2 tricycles to Mount Purro Nature Reserve in Barangay Calawis. For those using cars, you can find them on Waze.

The forest sanctuary has 4 cabins, 6 cottages, 3 casitas, 1 suite home, and 2 dorm-style rooms. They have a large pool with a picturesque view of Mount Purro, which are open from 7:00AM until l0:30PM. They also have a Game Room that has Billiards, table tennis, foosball, mahjong, board games, sungka and more.

I actually won in two Billiards game surprisingly because I didn't play it in a long while. Unfortunately in Table Tennis I lost all my games 😆

Before going to Mount Purro Nature Reserve, I was told that the place has no air-con, no wifi and no phone signals. Their tagline is "Disconnect to Connect" and their motto is: "Love. Country. Family. Nature. God." I'm actually OK with having no internet connection, I actually do it once in a while. Some call it, digital detox. No electronic devices such as smartphones or computers, it's an opportunity to reduce stress and focus on social interaction in the physical world.

You can try many activities at Mount Purro Nature Reserve like Horseback Riding, Having a Massage, Rappel, Try the Zipline, Trekking to Lagoon or Waterfalls, or have a food trip at Loli's Kitchen especially cook by Ma'am Baby Malvar, the wife of Sir Toto. Try the Indonesian Eggplant, Pako Salad & their drool-worthy Carbonara.

You can even meet the Dumagats, the indigenous people of the Sierra Madre Mountain Range. They'll teach you how to cook and build instant fire.

Day tour rates at MPNR is P350 per pax, and P250 for children. Inclusive use of mess hall, day swimming, hiking trails, asian lounge, shower facilities and cabanas from 7AM to 6PM. For food, you can try the Asian fusion buffet at Loli's Kitchen at P400 per person.

Their most affordable overnight accommodation is at the Pavilion Hostel, priced at P500 per person with 40 beds available. You can also pitch your own tent, P500 per pax or you can rent for P500 good for 4 pax.

We stayed at their Bamboo Cabin for P3700.00 good for 5 person. They have electric fans but I turned it off in the middle of night because its so cold. Don't worry about mosquito because their bamboo cabin is covered with nets.

It's such a weekend staycation to remember at Mount Purro Nature Reserve. A breather for another stressful week ahead in the Metro. Travel more while you can! Don’t let those travel opportunities pass you by. Unplug to unwind; tune out to tune in; and disconnect to connect.
